James Roy (J.R.) Wiles

James Roy (J.R.) Wiles was born in Zion, Arkansas on May 23, 1937, the son of Estel Wiles and Ora Hellums Wiles, and entered Paradise on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at the age of 84.

J.R. is survived by his wife, Nellie Mae Wiles; three children, Mike Wiles (Donna), Paula Doss (Clay), and Cindy Pitchford (Bill); five grandchildren, Tyler Pitchford (Andrea), Lyda Cole, Sky McAlister, Kathy Deimer, and Caleb Wiles; six great grandchildren, Elijah Pitchford, Noah Pitchford, Miah Deleon, Kenzie McAlister, Braxton Devore, and Hadley Deimer; two sisters, Vernee Duckett and Katie Pendleton; other relatives; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Estel and Ora Wiles; four siblings, Noble Wiles, Theda Mae Womack Lawhon, Glenna Faye Hellums, and Alvin Wiles; and one granddaughter, Cherish Hope Wiles.

J.R. grew up on the farm and married his childhood sweetheart, Nellie, on March 31, 1956.  He was faithful to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and proved his faithfulness through his life of service to others.  He was ordained at Finley Creek Baptist Church and pastored twenty-eight churches in Arkansas and southern Missouri  before retiring due to health issues.

He was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Graveside services for James Roy (J.R.) Wiles will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Finley Creek Cemetery near Sidney, Arkansas with Mike Wiles officiating.

Burial will be on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, in Finley Creek Cemetery near Sidney, Arkansas with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.
