Jennifer “Jenny” Broome

Jennifer June Broome, daughter of Bill and Dixie (Crisp) Austin, was born June 16, 1957, in Cabool, Missouri. She went to her heavenly home on June 24, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 67.

 Jenny grew up in Mountain Grove and graduated with the Mountain Grove High School class of 1975. She attended SMSU (Missouri State University) and graduated with a degree in Home Economics. She later went back and received her Master’s degree in Secondary Education. Jenny was united in marriage to James “Jim” Broome on June 21, 1980, in Mountain Grove. Two children were born to this union, James and Sara.

 Jenny taught second grade in Shallowater, Texas, for 26 years. She then retired and moved back to Mountain Grove, Missouri, where she lived an active, retired life. Jenny would fill her days with substitute teaching, serving as a personal liaison to her father, “Poppy”, helping teach kids at church, and being a full-time grandma by cheering at sporting events and spending summers with grandkids.

 Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Broome; her mother, Dixie Austin; one sister, Becky Moore; and father-in-law, James F. Broome.

 Jenny is survived by her children, James Broome and wife, Heather, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Sara McNallen and husband, Cody, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; six grandchildren, Leah, Lucas, and Logan Broome, and Rowan, Willow, and Olive McNallen; her father, Bill Austin; one sister, Billie Miller and husband, Scott, of Norwood, Missouri; her mother-in-law, Phyllis Broome; a brother-in-law, Herb Moore of Spokane, Missouri; and a multitude of other relatives and many friends who will miss her dearly.
