Jerry went to be with our Lord God and Savior on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on September 21, 1940, in Buffalo Gap, South Dakota to Dale & Marion O’Bryan. Jerry was raised in Buffalo Gap, South Dakota. He married Caron Post and had four daughters during their forty-year marriage. Jerry and Caron moved to West Plains, Missouri in 1999 where Caron would go to be with God on January 7, 2000.
Jerry met his second wife, Laurette O’Bryan, later in 2000 and were united in marriage in April 2001. They had a wonderful marriage until he passed.
Jerry was a union semi-truck driver for Safe-Way in Denver, Colorado, until his retirement in 1998. Jerry was President of the Christian Motorcycle Association, where he was able to help with the homeless, Special Olympics and Toys for Tots.
Jerry was an Assemblies of God Christian, soft spoken, and never met an enemy. He was always kind and sweet to everyone.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Marion & Dale O’Bryan, first wife Caron O’Bryan, sister Lois Harter, one granddaughter Kristina Post, one daughter Pamela O’Bryan, and his mother-in-law, Dora Post and father-in-law, Delbert Post.
He is survived by his wife, Laurette O’Bryan of the family home, two brothers, Jim and Floyd O’Bryan, two sisters, Marilyn and Marlene O’Bryan, three daughters, Jerolyn and husband John Knight of Aurora, Colorado, Jackie Whiting and her husband Gerry of Gassville, AR, Miracle Vogl and husband John of Firestone, Colorado. Jerry was very proud of his blended family. When Jerry & Laurette were married, he gained five stepchildren: Jason Barrett and his wife Wendy, Bobby Barrett and his wife Dawn, Sean Barrett and his wife Saleena, Steven Barrett and his wife Nicole, Amy Mitchell and her husband Larry, all of West Plains, MO. This union brought together a large, blended family which included 48 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
Everyone is invited to come to Jerry’s Celebration of Life, located at the Central Church of Christ, 1310 Butler Avenue, West Plains, MO, at 3:00 pm this Thursday, January 11, 2024.
