Joe Ellis Johnson, 72, of Alton, MO passed away peacefully at his home August 20, 2024.
Joe was born in Thayer, MO on October 31, 1951 to Agnes and Carl Johnson. He attended Alton High School and graduated in 1969. Joe was a pig farmer earlier in his life and a cattle farmer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son, Josiah (Joey) Johnson.
Joe is survived by his wife, Freda Johnson; one son, Josiah (Joey) Johnson; step-daughters Shelley Herrman, Amanda Gray and spouse Landon; four granddaughters, Skylar Herrman, Addisyn Herrman, Aaliyah Walker and Lily Gray; a brother Roy Dean Johnson and spouse Deana; sisters Phyllis Cropper and Norman Miller.
Joe was preceded in death by sisters Shirley Hardwick and Sharon Kay Rockwell; one brother Robert Johnson; parents Agnes and Carl Johnson.
Joe married the girl he had had a crush on since Junior High School, Freda (Parrott) Johnson, on January 25, 1986. Together they had one child, Josiah (Joey) Johnson.
Joe loved teaching Joey how to hunt, fish and farm. He spent most of his days farming and taking care of their cattle. Joe was loved and will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Burial will be held at Cotton Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers: Trey Earle, Dan Lingenfelter, Mason Haney, Landon Gray, Joey Johnson and Will Harris.
