John E. “Gene” Strong, 81 of Elk Creek, MO passed away on October 25, 2019 at NHC Healthcare in West Plains, MO. He was born on October 7, 1938 in Ava, MO the son of John and Pearl (Hall) Strong.
Gene attended Cabool Schools and was very active in sports before joining the US Army where he honorably served his country for four years. In 1960, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Judy Evans. They lived on a small farm in Elk Creek where they raised their three daughters that they loved and adored.
Gene and Judy ran an on the farm butcher service for over 20 years. He loved to garden and share with his friends and family.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; a step father; two daughters, Teri Lewis and Paula Wilson; three brothers, Bill, Harold and Bernie; two half-brothers, Robert Strong and Jake Mullanac; two sisters, Melba and Virginia; a half-sister, Wanetta Squires and sisters-in-law, Edna Strong and Betty Strong. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Judy of the home; his oldest daughter, Tammy Boileau and husband, Ron of Stratford, MO; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
