Johnny Hiram Coleman Jr.

Johnny Hiram Coleman, Jr., 85 years, went to meet his Lord on May 14, 2023 at his home with his sister, Sue and family by his side. Johnny was happy and at peace to be there surrounded by family that loved him.

Johnny was born July 24, 1937 in Liberty, MS to Johnny Hiram and Nannie  Lee (Freeman) Coleman, Sr.

Johnny and Claudell Wilkinson were united in marriage and together were blessed with three children and also blessed with three additional children.

He owned his own business most of his life. He was a skilled contractor, trusted and liked by many. He took great pride in his work. Johnny built metal buildings for businesses and many log homes in Mississippi and surrounding states. His home was Mississippi where he and his family lived for most of his 85 years.

He was a Cowboy in his dress and in his heart. He loved his boots, hat and horses!  He loved being with his family. He loved and doted on his grand and great grandchildren.

Johnny would always ask his family, “Do you need anything or my help?” He was always ready and willing.

Johnny was a Christian and had given his life to the Lord in Zachary, LA at Eastside Baptist Church.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Claudell; two brothers, Melvin and Keith Coleman; a sister, Lelia Raye Smith; step son, Marcus Thornton; and a granddaughter, Ashley Coleman Touchstone.

He is survived by his three children; Johnny Dale Coleman and wife, Gigi of Smithdale, MS, Danny Coleman of Natchez, MS, and Jennifer Alice Coleman of Meadville, MS; two step children, Rebecca Dupree of Meadville, MS and Gail Lark of Grand Coteau, LA; two grandsons, Trent Coleman and wife Chelsi of Hattisburg, MS and Trevor Coleman and wife, Emily of McCall Creek, MS; four great grandchildren, Jace, Charly, Riley, and Hayes;   his sister and her husband, Sue and Burl Hopkins of Ava, MO and his brother, Wilton Coleman of Bossier City, LA;   many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Cremation services for Johnny are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. A Memorial will be held at a later date in Mississippi.
