Jonas Robert Smith, 89, of Price Place, AR passed away peacefully at his home on August 17, 2021. He was born in Rattan, OK to Jake and Emily (Marshall) Smith on December 25, 1931. After relocating to California with his parents he attended school, worked, and joined the Army. He was honorably discharged in 1951.
Jonas married Jennie Marie Cobbs on March 21, 1955 in Lamont, CA and together they raised 5 children Terry, Danny, Joe, Ricky, and Debbie. Jonas worked as plant manager for WL Research, a seed processing company, along side his wife for 33 years. After retirement they relocated to the Ozarks in 1994, where he enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, making jelly, hunting, playing cards and spending time with family. He loved to tell stories of his life and give advice to everyone, whether they wanted it or not.
Jonas is survived by son Robert Joe Smith of Price Place, AR; daughter Debra Lynn Garcia and husband Louis of Price Place, AR; sister Mary White of Theodosia, MO; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Jennie Marie Smith; his parents Jake and Emily Smith; brothers Harvey, Albert, Charlie, and Curtis Smith; sons Terry, Danny, and Ricky Smith; and one grandson Ryan Michael Hardison.
A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 23, 2021 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Pastor Walter Rogero officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Price Place Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
