Julia Ann Vetter, age 74 of Alton, MO was born January 25, 1950 in Springfield, IL and passed away January 9, 2025 at the Rock Point Nursing Center, Birch Tree, MO.
Survivors include daughter Janine Barton and husband Jamie, three grandchildren, Tristen Drake and wife Hope, Blake Barton and Dawson Barton, great-grandchild Westen and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents O.V. Tatum and Augusta Gowin Tatum, her husband Richard William “Bill” Vetter.
Julia retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service on December 1, 2007 as a Chief Culinary Specialist. She spent time overseas during the Persian Gulf War and Kosovo.
The funeral service with full military honors will be at 11:00am Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO. Visitation will 5:00-7:00pm Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO.
