Julius Edward Pounds

Julius Edward Pounds, 91, passed away at his home on October 8, 2024. He was born on February 24, 1933 in Dearborn, MO to Lewis E. and Nora Elizabeth (Winingar) Pounds. He was a 1950 graduate of Houston High School. Julius spent most of his adult life in Clara, MO.

Julius entered the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He was an Acting Sergeant E5 in Electronics and Radar and served as the Chief Radar Operator for the East Coast of the Nike Missile Project,

Julius married Betty Ann Sheaffer in 1959 and to this union 4 children were born.

Julius had several careers through the years.  He worked as a canned milk hauler for ten years for Producers Creamery followed by semi-truck driving for Mid Am in Cabool, MO.  After retiring from over the road trucking, he worked in the Maintenance Department for Mid Am. After retirement, he filled his time with helping drive tractors on the farm, reading, supporting various charities and watching his favorite TV shows; when able, Julius loved his daily walks and feeding the fish at his favorite spot with his faithful companion, Big Foot.

Julius was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings except for one surviving brother.  He is survived by his former spouse, Betty; his four children, Julia (Steve) of Ozark, MO, David (LaDora) of Mtn. Grove, MO, Darrell (Cheryl) and Dale (Brenda) both of Houston, MO; grandkids, Ryan Craig (Kacie), Jerod Pounds (Aleesia), Lance Pounds (Savannah), Daisha Lewis (Jordan), Danielle O’Neil (Greg), Destiny Pounds, Colt Sutton (Carmen) and 14 great grandkids with a baby boy to arrive in January.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Tiffany Miller and family for the care they provided to our Dad.
