Kandy Barnes, born to Arthur and Mary (Pulliam) Hennan on February 10, 1952, passed away on May 21, 2024. Kandy grew up in Ava, Missouri, alongside her siblings Mary (Sis) Mundy, Barbara (Danny) Walters, Betty (Ernie) Luzadder, Bruce (Diane) Hennan, Floyd (Laura) Hennan, and Pearl (David) Hennan-Hain.
On August 21, 1971, Kandy married her high school sweetheart, Alvin Barnes, and together they built a beautiful life in Ava. Their faith was built on Christ, and attended The Church Of Christ in Ava for many years. They were blessed with four children: Brian (grandchildren Connor Barnes, Cooper Barnes, Gracie Barnes), Mike (wife Rachel, grand children Sean Barnes, Myrtle Willis), DiAnne (Husband Joe, grand children Madalyn Barnes-Canape, Miley Ludwig, Mallory Ludwig), and Adam (grand children Eric Barnes; great grand child August, grand child Brayden Barnes, and Mackenzie Barnes). Kandy was a devoted wife and a beloved mother, known affectionately as “Mom” by all the neighborhood kids. She cherished her role as a grandmother, bringing joy and warmth to her many grandchildren. Kandy loved her extended family; Leland (Nancy) Barnes, Doyle (Rosie) Barnes, Charlene (John) Parker, Marilyn (Jim) Renee, Lila (Bill) Fry, Alesia (Steve) King, Neil (Bonnie) Barnes.
Kandy is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mary Hennan, her husband Alvin Barnes, and her son Brian Barnes. Her loving spirit and kind heart have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her passion for music could be heard through out the halls as The Bee Gees filled the air, and her not-so-secret crush on the lead singer, Robin Gibb, was well-known.
Kandy’s memory will be cherished by her surviving children, siblings, grandchildren, and a host of friends and extended family. Her presence brought light and love into every life she touched, especially when the Hennan-Wit came out of her.
Services for Kandy will be announced at a later date and time.
“In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.” – Abraham Lincoln
Kandy Barnes will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will endure in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.
Cremation for Kandy is being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Missouri.
