Karen Lynn (Fry) McFarren , 85, of Salem, entered eternal rest on March 6, 2025, at Yellville. Ar. Karen was born on January 14th, 1940, the daughter of Harry and Eleanor Fry in Jonesboro, Ar.
Karen was united in marriage to Russell McFarren on Oct 14th, 1967, at Alton, MO. They have celebrated 57 years together. To this union one son, William (Rusty) McFarren was born.
Karen received her Master’s Degree in counseling from Arkansas State University. Over the years Karen taught at Alton High School, Lake City Schools, and Highland Schools. She enjoyed all kinds of sports, but her love was coaching volleyball and basketball.
Karen also worked many years as the HR representative for Salem Shirt Factory. The most rewarding employment was as a CASA director where she touched the lives of many children who needed an advocate.
Karen leaves to grieve her passing, husband Russell, son William (Rusty) and wife Fara, 2 sisters Gracie Noblin and Linda Slade, brother n law Terry McFarren and wife Windy, 3 grandchildren Chase (Autumn) Steed, Chance (Kelsie) Steed, Chasity (Brian) Moser, and 14 great grandchildren. Preceding Karen in death were her parents, one sister Francis, and daughter n law Sandra McFarren .
Karen’s passions were sports, rock collecting, going to church, and anything to do with children. She was also very involved in politics and loved Willie Nelson music.
Until we meet again, we will remember mom with love and smiles!
Visitation will be 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
