Karen Rose Wilkins

Karen Rose Wilkins, the daughter of John Maxwell Ede and Stella Alma (Simike) Murray was born on 4 February, 1946 at Chichester, England and passed away at her home in Summersville, Missouri with her family at her bedside, on 29 July, 2024 making her age 78 years, 5 months, and 25 days.

Karen was united in marriage to Dwane Wilkins on 24 April, 2004. Born in England, Karen came to the U.S. with her parents on 19 October, 1946. Karen attended school in Harper, Kansas. After finishing school Karen married Lennis Johnson and to this union one daughter was born: Suzanne Marie Johnson. When the union ended, Karen moved to Boston, Massachusetts and became a legal secretary. Later Karen moved to Bluffton, South Carolina and started her mobile bookkeeping business that she operated for 25 years. In 2005 Karen and Dwane started Maranatha Farm Animal Rescue in Ridgeland, South Carolina, and they successfully ran it for 17 years: taking in, rehabilitating, and rehoming over 2,000 animals.

Karen was baptized on 1 December, 2002 at the Coosawhatchie Baptist Church, where she loved serving. Karen was a pilot and loved flying her 1942 Piper Cub plane, scuba diving in the Florida Keys, and horseback riding. 

She was proceeded in death by her parents and one grandson (Jacob Whitten). 

She is survived by her husband Dwane of the home, daughters Suzanne Haney (husband Cole); Rochelle Whitten (husband William), a son William (Billy) Wilkins, a brother Brian Ede (wife Linda) and 7 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. 

Karen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
