Katherine Callaway Bowden, 86, passed away on October 31, 2019, in Birch Tree, Missouri. She was born on August 1, 1933, to William and Esther (Beckner) Callaway in Springfield, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Esther Callaway.
She is survived by her husband, Doug Bowden; children, Dave Bowden and Katie Bowden; grandchildren, Kay Johnson (Greg), Link Bowden (Erin) and Sarah Dailey (Dean); great-grandchildren, Katherine Dailey and Gracie Johnson.
Katherine was a legal secretary for the Mayor of Springfield and she spent many years involved in the bank, insurance, grocery store and the Hickory House. She was actively involved in her church teaching Sunday School and playing the organ. She was a Cub Scout leader, an artist and quilt maker. Katherine loved to travel and spent every winter in Florida to escape the cold. Most of all she loved her family deeply. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2019, at Yarber Mortuary Chapel, Birch Tree, Missouri with Pastor Tommy G. Barnhart officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service also at the chapel. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Birch Tree, Missouri.
