Larry Lee Burnett

Larry Lee Burnett, 73 years, 4 months, and 19 days old, passed away on December 26, 2021 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO.

Larry was born August 7, 1948 in Independence, Missouri to Jay Thomas and Virginia Kathleen (Price) Burnett.

Larry was a 1966 Ava High School graduate. He was a Veteran and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He continued to serve in the Reserves for 10 years. Larry was a Truck Driver for 38 years. He worked for several years with Heath & Son in Ava and for Journigan Construction Co. hauling heavy equipment.

On July 4, 1997 Larry and Evelyn Goss were united in marriage at Ava at Evelyn’s mom and dad’s, Abe & Lena Goss.

Larry was a Christian and was raised in the Ava Southern Baptist Church. He loved driving his truck! He enjoyed going to Nascar races, traveling, camping, and visiting with folks. His love and joy was being with his family!!

He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Abe & Lena Goss, his two brothers, Roger and Darrell.

Larry is survived by his wife, Evelyn, four children and their spouses, Twayna & Keith Graham, Jerry Burnett & Annie, Janolyn & Jerry Mullen, and Stephanie & Joseph Dering, 18 grandchildren,  10 great grandchildren and one-on-the-way,  his brother, Charles Burnett, two sisters, Sandy Trepasso and Carrie Bennett, nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Larry will be Friday, Dec. 31, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Thornfield Cemetery, Thornfield, MO with full military honors by the Troy Herd American Legion Post 112. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be his brother, Pastor Charles Burnett. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or donor’s choice.
