Lena Christine Sloan was known as “Christine”. Christine and Norman lived and worked on the farm near Rover, Missouri as they raised three children. Later in life she worked at the shoe factory in West Plains, Missouri for ten years until it closed. Norman had a battle with cancer at the age of 55, so they decided to sell the farm near Rover and move to West Plains, Missouri. Christine loved living in West Plains, taking care of her flowers, visiting with their wonderful neighbors and walking in the neighborhood. They lived there for about thirty years and took many wonderful trips with friends and family. Christine’s health began to decline in 2015. At that time, Arlene and Darlene decided Christine and Norman should again move to the farm next door to their daughter, Darlene Crews and her husband Grover, so they could help them when health problems worsened. They also lived very close to her granddaughter Leslie (Crews) and Daniel Weyland and their family. They attended Alton Freewill Baptist Church until health issues made it difficult for Christine to get in and out of their home and to church. Norman’s cancer returned in 2021. In September of 2021 they moved to Shepherd’s View Assisted Living Facility in Alton, Missouri. Norman passed away at Shepherd’s View in November 20, 2021 and Christine followed him in death on June 24, 2022 at Ozark Healthcare Hospital. Moving back to the farm and being close to Darlene, Leslie and her grandkids and Arlene regularly visiting and helping her was a blessing for the last few years of her life. She will be greatly missed but we have confidence that we will see her again.
