Leon Stockton, 82, of Thornfield, MO passed away October 30, 2022 at his residence. He was born August 15, 1940 in Keifer, OK to Webster Lee and Verlon Mae (Dethrow) Stockton.
Leon was a veteran who proudly served his country in the Navy during 2 tours in Vietnam. He served as a code writer and code breaker, known as “Sparky”. Leon was proud of his military service and has always been very patriotic. He was an ordained minister through the Native American church Chickamouga Cherokee. He loved his family and spending time with his friends. He loved to barbeque and have big fourth of July BBQ’s for all his loved ones. Leon was also a professional bass fisherman and enjoyed his time on the lake.
He is survived by his wife Kay Stockton of the home in Thornfield, MO; two daughters from his first marriage, Susan Tomek and husband Duane of Austin, TX, and Belinda Krause and husband Kenneth of Broken Arrow, OK; one grandson Matthew Krause; one stepdaughter Tammy Robbins of Ava, MO; two step granddaughters; six step grandchildren; one sister Nancy Stockton of Sapulpa, OK; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Patsy (Baker) Stockton; his parents; and two brothers Winfred and Perry Stockton.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2022 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Oren Alcorn officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2022 in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
