In the late night hours of April 15th, 1969 the world became a better place when Leroy Jason Lakey entered into this world.
He was born to Dallas and Helen (Wood) Lakey and was the third of nine children.
Leroy was known in his younger days as “Little Dallas”, as he was his Daddy’s little shadow. On August 12, 1995 he married his forever love, Selene Revere, and together they began building their family structure adding their three children, Justin, Trisha, and Dallas.
Leroy loved his family “Bigley” and kept them close. He was rarely seen
without Selene or his little doggie, Smokey who he spoiled rotten.
Leroy was a local legend for his mechanical skills and everyone in the surrounding community and beyond relied on his ability to repair anything,…as long as you weren’t in any big hurry.
Leroy was a simple man who preferred to live a simple life. He loved building high performance engines and was known by many at the Rogersville Raceway for his bright green AMC Spirit.
On May 10, 2021 Leroy received one of his most precious gifts from his daughter, Trisha, his grandson, Riley, who he referred to as his “Little Ridey”. He looked forward to his Friday’s going to pick up Riley. He would always say, “Riley Riley, it’s almost Friday!” Also after which he was looking forward to meeting a new granddaughter, which is due to arrive in March.
Being a hardworking and honest family man will be Leroy’s lasting legacy.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Selene, his sons, Justin and Dallas and his daughter, Trisha and MJ and their son, Riley, his mother, Helen Lakey, two brothers, Lee and Lewis and their spouses and families, six sisters: Leah, Lisa, Leanna, Heather, Lori, and Leslie and their spouses and families.
Leroy was a unique individual whom for those of us who knew him, will leave an everlasting impression.
Funeral services for Leroy will be Monday, January 24th, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the Eastern Gate Missionary Baptist Church, Rt. 7, Box 7356, Ava, MO with burial following in the Stillings Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Bob Huskey.
