Lillian Irene (Jones) Layman was born on September 25, 1922, at Birch Tree, Missouri, the daughter of Obediah and Sarah (Brown) Jones. She passed away on September 9, 2020, at her home in Mountain View, Missouri, at the age of 97. She was united in marriage to John Eldon Layman on April 4, 1942, at Alton, Missouri by the Justice of the Peace, and to this union, three children were born.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Obediah and Sarah; sister, Laura Cooper; and four brothers, Lee, Elmer, Jimmy, and Walter.
She is survived by her two sons, Eldon Dee Layman of Mountain View, MO, and William “Obie” Layman and wife, Joyce of Mountain View, MO; daughter Carol Lee Weitekamp and husband, Joe Paul of Peoria, IL; five grandchildren, Isaac Weitekamp and wife, Shari of Bloomington, IL, Mark Layman and wife, Kim of Lebanon, MO, Matt Layman and wife, Brandi of Mountain View, MO, Angela (Layman) Goldsmith and husband, Dean of Mountain View, MO, and Justin Layman of Mountain View, MO; fourteen great-grandchildren, Ethan, Brennalyn, Kolton, Logan, Hannah, Emma, Hoyt, Jacob, Leroy, Destiny, Trenton, Kelsey, Tyler, and JohnWilliam; along with a host of other friends and family.
Lillian had deep roots in the community. She moved into her home 73 years ago, spending most of her life on her farm. She was a member of Chapel Hill Church in Mountain View, MO. She was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Mountain View, Missouri with Pastor Dean Goldsmith officiating under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View.
