Linda Fay Martin, 68, of Winona, Missouri, passed away on October 18, 2022. She was born to parents Melvin Clyde Williams and Estalee Bell McGary, on August 13, 1954, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Linda spent her life working on the family farm. She loved working cattle, putting up hay, and doing whatever needed to be done in the field. She enjoyed spending much of her time driving around the field in her “go-buggy,” as she called it, checking on her cattle and drinking her “gallon-sized” cup of tea. You could often find her, in her garage, or with a baby calf or two that she was bottle feeding. Linda was strong-willed and didn’t want anyone to do things for her if she could not do them on her own. Even after being diagnosed with a brain disease that would take her ability to talk and move some of her muscles, she continued to roll around the house in her wheelchair doing whatever chores she could.
John and Linda were married on December 2, 1972, in Winona, Missouri. Together they raised two children: Melinda and Jonathan.
Linda is survived by her husband, John Martin of Winona; daughter, Dr. Melinda Vandevort of St. Louis and former husband Lindell Vandevort of Mountain View; son, Jonathan Martin and girlfriend Athena Fox of Winona; grandsons Mason Vandevort and wife Destiny, Kendall Vandevort, and Jon Luka Vandevort all of Mountain View; two special great-grandchildren, Eathan and Kennedy; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Melvin and Estalee Williams.
