Loretta Marie Logan was born June 13, 1942, to Ralph and Ira Margaret (Shuemaker) Logan in Cleburne, Texas. Loretta “Flu” departed from this world on December 4, 2022, in her daughter’s home in rural Seymour after a long battle with heart trouble and dementia at the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 21 days.
Loretta was the oldest of four children. Being the oldest, she helped care for her sisters, Patsy and Barbara, and her brother, Jerry. During a screaming fit of the youngest, she asked her mother to please not order anymore babies from the Sears Robuck catalog.
Loretta started her own family early in life resulting in three children, Warren, Wayne, and Dana. She spent over 30 years as a beautician and 23 years working at Emerson Electric in Ava, Missouri.
Loretta was saved in 1980 at Gentry Church in Ava, Missouri, and was baptized by Brother Lenard Silvey. She loved and served Jesus daily. She loved reading her Christian fiction books and loved listening to her all-time favorite preacher, Charles Stanley. She was a current and active member of Dugginsville Community Church in Theodosia, Missouri. She loved God so much and she witnessed to the world, once again being baptized last summer by Pastor Tom Cantrell.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Margaret “Bobby” Logan, granddaughter, Autumn Merrifield, and sister-in-law, Barbara Logan.
She leaves behind her son, Warren Merrifield and Carol Morgan of Mount Vernon, Missouri, son Wayne Merrifield and wife, Tammy, of Seymour, Missouri, and daughter, Dana MacDonald and husband, Walter “Mike”, of Seymour, Missouri. Eight grandchildren, Stephanie Slone and husband, Jason, of Blue River, Kentucky, Casey Merrifield and wife, Stephanie, of Seymour, Missouri, Corey Merrifield of Springfield, Missouri, Cheyenne Everett and husband, Jacob, of Springfield, Missouri, Jakilyn Cavanaugh and husband, Lukas, of Springfield, Missouri, Sean MacDonald and wife, Melanie, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Nathan MacDonald of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Casie MacDonald of King George, Virginia, thirteen great-grandchildren, Makayla, Taegan, Paisly, Fisher, Willow, River, Macaria, Alice, BrookLynn, Brody, Rylee, Ryker, and Aiden. One brother, Jerry Logan of College Station, Pennsylvania, two sisters, Patsy Miller and husband, Larry, of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Barbara “Boo” Cochran and husband, Steve, of Tucson, Arizona, along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
