Lorna Henze, 77, departed this life Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Sanford Hospital in Bismark, ND. She was born July 8, 1947, to the late Edward and Jean (Kalmbach) Ashe, in Longview, WA, where she attended elementary school.
After 3rd grade, her family moved to Castle Rock, WA to take over the family business at Castle Rock Water Works. Following graduation from high school in Castle Rock, Lorna married David Seals on December 5, 1965. They had three children together, Susan, Tate, and Trent. Lorna devoted her time to taking care of her home, teaching Sunday School, watching her kids’ sports activities, and working various part-time jobs. After her first union dissolved in July 1987, Lorna immersed herself in Bible study and chose to follow God’s calling in the missionary field. In May of 1992, she packed her belongings and moved to South Dakota to share God’s word on the Rosebud Indian Reservation as a missionary. On February 20, 1993, Lorna married William “Joe” Henze in Mission, SD. Many great adventures followed including earning her English degree, teaching high school, self-publishing several books, and three trips to Israel. She shared her faith on five Indian Reservations in South Dakota, Montana, and Alaska. Lorna loved playing the piano and leading worship music, Bible study, reading, and researching her family history. Lorna was a member of the STBM Messianic Congregation where she was an active participant in Bible studies and her faith community. Her commitment to her spiritual life was evident in her words and actions, as she lived out her beliefs with kindness and integrity.
Lorna is survived by her husband, Joe; her children, Susan Johnson and spouse, Loren, Tate Seals and spouse, Heather, and Trent Seals; stepdaughter, Joni Cogar and spouse, David; as well as two sisters, Mardith Korten, and Gretchen Glover.
