Mabel Bryant

Mabel Lynn Bryant, 94 years, 6 month, and 8 days, of Gainesville, MO passed away on October 11, 2021 peacefully at Hospice House in Mountain Home, AR.

Mabel was born on April 4th, 1927 to Will & Retta (Cox) Hicks in Tracy Ferry, AR. After graduating from Mountain Home, AR, she went on to do many things in life & had many occupations. After graduating high school during WWII her & several classmates were recruited to go work in Washington DC for the FBI as secretary field agents. One of her favorites however was the old Drug Store Soda Fountains in Mountain Home, AR & you may have heard many stories from those times. She was most proud of her family. She met & married Robert James Columbus Bryant after he returned from WWII on February 26th, 1946 in Amos, AR (now known as Lakeview). They then went on to have three children whom she loved deeply. Her sons blessed her with four beloved grandchildren and then six great grandchildren. As much as she loved her family she was also quick with a dish towel or wooden spoon but you never had to worry about going hungry around her or leaving without her sending you with some sort of snack, book, or goodie she whipped up with her yarn & crochet hooks. She also had a green thumb & enjoyed gardening. She had many plants & beautiful gardens in her days. Her secret to living such a long fulfilled life was plain vanilla ice cream, didn’t matter if it was the cheapest you could find and at least two pots of coffee a day, plain black. Until the end she was ecstatic to get a milkshake and wanted to get up to get everyone some coffee. She loved her God & since the 1980’s she has been a dedicated member of The First Christian Church in Gainesville, MO where she was blessed with many friendships over the years that she truly cherished.
