Marcia Sue Brown

Marcia Sue (McLard) Brown, age 75, daughter of Clarence and Erma McLard was born on July 21, 1949, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri.

Marcia is preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Caleb.

She is survived by her husband, Lyman of Plato; her children, Ethan and wife, Rhockie and Erin and husband, Craig, all of Lebanon, MO.; her brother, Terry McLard of Cape Girardeau, MO; and grandchildren, Cameron, Jacob, Isabelle, Caden, Maddie, Harrison and Jillian; she is also survived by four nieces and their families, and many friends.

Marcia grew up in Cape Girardeau graduating from Central High School in 1967. She married Lyman Brown on August 30, 1969, in Las Vegas, NV and to this union two children were born. They were together for over 60 years.

Marcia was a member of the United Methodist Church in Houston, MO. She was a long-time local business owner, starting for Paul Bennett at the shoe store in 1971 and buying the store in 1991, where she enjoyed serving the community. She loved to spend time gardening and being outdoors. She loved to travel, especially to the beach. She enjoyed watching the birds and animals on the farm and helping Lyman with the armadillos. She had a lifelong enthusiasm for cars, old cars, fast cars, especially Ford Mustangs. Her favorite things were cooking and spending time with her family.

She was a loving, gentle, devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother and Mimi. She lived life to the fullest and with the hope of heaven and because of Christ, her savior we know we will be together again. Marcia was loved by all, and we will miss her very much. We celebrate her life and take comfort in the fact that we will see her again soon!!
