Marguerite Pearl (Gauldin) Wehmer of Willow Springs, beloved wife, mom, granny, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend of many entered into her heavenly home on May 26, 2022, at the age of 92.
Marguerite was born on January 18, 1930, in Jefferson City, MO to Edmund and Lucy (Boulware) Gauldin. In 1937, her father was transferred with the Missouri Highway Department to Willow Springs to staff the new District 8 building. Marguerite started first grade with Miss Lottie Slusher. In 1948, she graduated from Willow Springs High School and on October 12, 1951, she was united in marriage to Robert Wehmer from Florissant, Missouri. They were married almost 50 years and they lived in her childhood home at 206 East High Street where she resided for 85 years. Marguerite was a homemaker who enjoyed raising five children and helping out with her husband’s garden. Bob and Marguerite were organizers of the first farmers’ market in Willow Springs. She was an excellent seamstress and she used her hobby as a floral designer to help with many weddings and funerals. In the 1960s, she was active in the American Cancer Society and helped with numerous cancer crusades to educate and raise funds. She was active in the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, training union, VBS, and worked with the nursery cradle roll. At Trinity Baptist, she sang in the choir and provided floral arrangements and decorations. Over many decades, Marguerite was a friendly host to generations of young people in Willow Springs, as she made many meals for visiting friends of her five children. Visitors were always welcome and treated as family. She enjoyed her 11 grandchildren for whom she had a pool built. She hosted many family get-togethers. With her sister Betty, she enjoyed taking the kids to Branson where great memories were made at Silver Dollar City.
Marguerite is survived by her children Lou (Cindy) Wehmer; Willow Springs; Barbara Skaggs, Normal, Illinois; David, Willow Springs; and Dan, Seymour; 11 grandchildren: Amanda (Matt) Perkins and Emily (Drew) Bolander; Caroline (Jim) Sallee, Becky ((Brendan) Malone, Meredith (Michael) Phillips, and Lindsey Skaggs; Jeremiah (Liz) Woodring; Holly and Heidi Wehmer; Robert and William Wehmer; 17 great-grandchildren : Aurelia, Lucy Pearl, and Fielder Perkins; Henry, Ellie, and Tyler Bolander; Eleanor, Julia, and Grace Sallee; Calvin, Marian, and Ryan Malone; Eddie and Peter Phillips; Nora, Finn, and Alice Woodring. She is also survived by her sister Betty Stringer, Willow Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a daughter Becky, a son-in-law Neil, and three brothers, Edmund, Robert, and Claude Gauldin. Memorials may be made in her name to the Willow Springs High School Scholarship Fund.
A celebration of life for Marguerite will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church with Pastors Joel Hinds and Jeremiah Woodring officiating.
