Marlis Joseph Ahart of Mountain View, Missouri, was born on March 13, 1941, in Tuscumbia, Missouri, to the late Alph and Alice (Albertson) Ahart. He went to be with the Lord on September 23, 2021, at Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 80 years.
Marlis was united in marriage to Joan Gavin on November 16, 1969, and they were blessed with three children, Joseph Dewayne, Cheryl Kay, and Michelley Ann.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan Ahart; son, Joseph and fiancée, Gail of Chesterfield, MO; daughter, Cheryl Hagen of Belleville, IL; former daughter-in-law, Charlotte Ahart (Samuel); former son-in-law, Darryl Hagen; brother, Earl Ahart and wife, Linda; five grandchildren, Amy (James), Keith, Kevin, Kerrie (Matt), and Bryan; eight great-grandchildren, Even, Addlyn, Paxton, Chase, Hayden, Harper, Jackson, and, Haysle; and a very special cousin and friend, Bonnie Langston.
Marlis was preceded in death by his parents, Alph and Alice Ahart; daughter, Mechelley Ahart; granddaughter, Katie Hagen; and sister, Mary Brooks.
He enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. Marlis was a devoted Christian and attended Little Zion Church in Trask, Missouri, until his health permitted him from attending.
Marlis’ biggest love was his family. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all those who loved him.
Visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m., with services immediately following at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 30, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Pastor Robert Medley officiating. Interment will be held in Jarrett Cemetery near Iberia. Memorial contributions are suggested to Jarrett Cemetery or the American Heart Association.
