Michael Atkins

Michael Phillip Atkins, 70, of Theodosia, MO passed away December 3, 2022 at his residence. He was born on January 24, 1952 in Fresno, CA to Odis Harvey and Royce Pernal (Pennington) Atkins.

His family moved to Ventura, CA when he was a small child. At the age of 23 he moved to Corcoran, CA where he met his wife of 44 years, Margaret Ann Atkins. Michael worked for JF Boswell Company in Corcoran for 25 years as a welder. He became a truck driver for 8 years. Truck driving was his calling, he loved the freedom of the road. He decided to get off the road and worked 10 years as the Corcoran District Cemetery superintendent (or as he referred to it “stupid attendant”) before retiring.

He lived in Corcoran until retirement at age 62. His first stop in retirement was Tehachapi, CA where he lived for 5 years. He then located to his beloved Bull Shoals Lake where he lived until his passing. He loved his grandchildren with his whole heart. He enjoyed fishing and wanted to hunt but never got around to it. He traveled most of the U.S. and loved Aruba. He attended True Hope Church in Theodosia, MO.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Ann Atkins of Theodosia; one son Stacy Lynn Atkins of Visalia, CA; his grandsons Bradley Douglas Blowers of Corcoran, CA, Jacob McCarty Alvarez of Visalia, CA, Mason James Atkins of Visalia, CA; his granddaughters Brittany Danielle Blowers of Corcoran, CA, Kate lynn Sue Ann Atkins of Visalia, CA, Brooke Leeann Gamez of Corcoran, CA; his great grandsons Bentley Michael Allen, Elliott Dean Allen; great granddaughters Heagan Delaney Blowers, Reagan Lenore Blowers, Nora Faye Gamez, Hallie Victoria Rae Allen all of Corcoran, CA; and one brother Paul Westley Atkins Kranz and spouse Steven Larry Kranz.

No local services are planned at this time. The family has honored Michael’s wish for cremation. Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
