Miles Max Peet

Miles Max Peet, 92 years, 9 months, 24 days old, passed away on November 7, 2023 at his home with family by his side.

Max was born January 13, 1931 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Miles Aubry and Florence Anna (Davis) Peet.

He grew up in southern California in Anaheim. He became a Firefighter in Westminster, CA. He was instrumental in establishing a paid Fire Dept. for the city of Westminster. He later acquired the rank of Captain.

He also started a soap vending business for laundromats. They called it, “Sudsy”. “Sudsy” was a sponsor for his off-road racing. He completed the Baja 1000 and 500 races many times.

On September 22, 1979 Max and Karen Kay Eickerman were united in marriage at Sunset Beach, CA. After they were married five years, Max retired from firefighting and they moved to Springville, CA and Max became a Cowboy! While there he enjoyed a number of years racing endurance horses. Years later they moved to Ozarks and landed in the Ava community where they built their home near Arno.

Another adventure Max decided to take was the Camino de Santiago, a 500 mile pilgrimage (on foot) from a small village in France to the west coast of Spain. For both he and Karen it was a life changing experience. He did this at the age of 82!

He was a Christian and a member of a non-denominational church in CA.

Max loved being active and never let the grass grow under his feet. Max and Karen were fortunate to travel all but three of the states in the U.S.A.

He was preceded in death by in death by his parents.

Max is survived by his wife, Karen; his children, Cheryl Ann Peet and Jeffery Peet; one brother, Stephen Paysen; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services for Max will be Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Arno Cemetery, Ava. Visitation will be prior to the service on Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. to service.

Officiating will be Chaplain, Gary Fry. Family requests memorials to Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T.org) a charity to help the survivors of 9/11.
