Nancy fell in love with James Chaney of Willow Springs and married him on December 19, 1953. Nancy and James were married for 50 years and remained in the community where they were born and raised. Throughout Nancy’s life, she served her family, church, and community. Her work experiences ranged from teaching in a one-room schoolhouse, to driving an ambulance, and working as a nurse at both Ozark Medical Center and Brooke Haven Healthcare in West Plains. As a medical care professional, she saved several lives, and welcomed a few babies into the world. Nancy was a long-standing member of the First Christian Church in Willow Springs. Her faith in and love for Jesus was evident in both her words and in how she lived her life. She read her Bible faithfully and loved those around her deeply. Nancy was an encouragement to all who knew her, and her legacy will live in generations to come. Nancy had many passions in life including cooking, quilting, fishing, and gardening. Nothing made her happier than to give someone a quilt that was not only beautiful but made specifically for that person. Nancy loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Nancy loved James, her children, her grandchildren, her family, her friends, and life. Nancy was a special woman and will be truly missed by many.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, James and her sons, Jimmy and Kenny, in addition to five brothers and three sisters.

Nancy is survived by her children: Larry Chaney, Terry Chaney and wife, Cheryl; D.D. Wahl and husband, Jerry; Denise Tinnin and husband, Mike; Christine Collins and husband, Avery Buffington; by her grandchildren: Jeremy Chaney, Joshua Chaney, Amanda Chaney, Bethany Garnett, Andrew Chaney, Alex Chaney, Sarah Burks, James Irish, Heather Nelson, and Sid Tinnin; by her great grandchildren: Kennedy and Kyler Garnett, Adelaine and Lincoln Chaney, Ruby and Ivy Chaney, Zackery and Kaleah Burks; by her sisters: Inez Trowbridge, Linda White, and Sadie Reeves, and by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
