Nellie Ruth (Pitts) Forester, age 83, was born November 30, 1939, in Portageville, MO, and passed away July 2, 2023, at the NHC Healthcare in West Plains, MO.
Survivors include: 2 daughters; Deborah Dziatlik (Michael), Judy Hejnal (Ron); 1 step-daughter, Janette DeGrazia; 1 sister, Dola Lantz; 1 brother, Ronnie Pitts; 6 grandchildren, Hannah Hejnal, Dusty Roberts (Tony), Michael Gwaltney (Chelsea), Zech DeGrazia, Micah DeGrazia (Tracy), Seth DeGrazia; 6 great-grandchildren, Brianna Helm (Dustin), Ashley James (Joe), Ben Luker, Ben Gwaltney, Reid Gwaltney, A.M. DeGrazia; 5 great-great grandchildren, Tristin David, Hudson Paul, Riley James, Leah James and Levi James; numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Bill Forester; her parents, Luther & Myrtle (Wilkins) Pitts; 2 brothers, Eugene Pitts & Glenn Pitts; 1 step-daughter, Patti Forester Gwaltney; 1 grandson, Shawn Gwaltney.
Nellie was a devoted Christian and member of the Many Springs Baptist Church in Alton, MO. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved cooking, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends and animals. She also loved listening to music, especially Elvis Presley songs.
Funeral services will be 11am Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Clary Funeral Home in Alton, MO, with burial following in the Lance Cemetery. Visitation will be 10am-11am just prior to the service.
