Nelson K Bassham, 85, of Salem, Arkansas, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Salem, Arkansas. Nelson was born on November 2, 1938, in Moko, Arkansas, to William and Martha (Ward) Bassham.
Nelson was united in marriage to Marian Kay Roberts on July 2, 1962, in Blue Springs, Missouri and to this union three children were born. Nelson spent his working years as owner/operator of Nelson’s Wheel Alignment for twenty-five years in Salem, Arkansas and later as owner/operator of Cottonwood Inn of Salem, Arkansas for twenty-five years. He loved visiting with family and playing music with friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, tinkering, and was a very competitive card player. He was a member of the Salem Church of Christ and was a volunteer with the Agape Room. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend.
Nelson leaves behind his wife, Kay Bassham of Salem, Arkansas; two sons, Shannon Bassham and wife Angela of Elizabeth, Arkansas and Cory Bassham and wife Sharon of West Plains, Missouri; daughter, Penny Bassham of Conway, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Kellen, Chelsea, Garrett, Lindsey, Bradley, Lauren, and Nathan; nine great grandchildren, Hayden, Harlen, Raklen, Eva Mae, Axton, Max, Landon, Kennedy, and Blake; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents (William and Martha Bassham), grandson (Bradley), three sisters, and six brothers.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the Salem Church of Christ in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. Mike Yates and Bro. David Gibson officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. until time of service on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Salem Church of Christ in Salem, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Children’s Home Inc. in Paragould, Arkansas. Arrangements are entrusted to Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
