Nova “Shorty” Martin
Graveside services for Nova Dwayne “Shorty” Martin, 83, Dora, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Ball Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Martin passed away at 3:26 p.m., Friday, July 24, 2020, at his home.
He was born January 11, 1937, at Dora, Missouri, to Novie Andy Martin and Flo Marie Hodgson Martin. On May 20, 1956, he was married at Dora, Missouri, to Martha Ann Owen. Before his retirement, Shorty was a Lead man at SEI. He loved music; it was always a huge part of his life. He had been a member of the Country Express Band since 1980 and was a bass player. Shorty also enjoyed fishing and hunting. His family was his passion in life. Mr. Martin was a member of Ball Church of Christ for forty years.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Martha Martin; one son, Doug Martin and wife, Rhonda; son-in-law, Victor Hambelton; four grandchildren, Kasey Hambelton and fiancé Ashton Shipley, Mandy Verplancke and husband, Nathan, Brad Martin and wife, Diana and USAF Staff Sergeant, Adam Martin; five great-grandchildren, Brailyn, Andilynn, Reece, Cameron and Olivia; two sisters, Virginia Berry and Charlotte Johnson and husband, Lonnie; one sister-in-law, Sue Martin; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents, one daughter, Anna Hambelton, one brother, Glaine Martin, one sister, Wanda Brown, and two brothers-in-law, J.R. Brown and Jay Berry, preceded him in death.
Mr. Martin will lie in state from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ball Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, MO 65775.
