Ola “May” King

  Ola “May” King, 75, of Thayer, Missouri passed away on October 13, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. May was born on July 15, 1948 in Alton, Missouri to Larwood Sisco and Marjorie Pierce. She married Dennis Ira King on July 6th, 1968 in Alton, Missouri. They were married 23 years and during this union two children were born; Deanna Mae King-Smith and Melissa Gail King.

In May’s younger years she loved sewing and making clothes for her girls. She enjoyed dancing, singing and cooking meals for her family. May also liked to read and study the bible. She attended Draughon’s Business College in Springfield, Missouri and worked for King’s Asphalt Company as a bookkeeper for many years.

May enjoyed spending time with family, her dog “Daisy May”, and friends. She liked listening to music and watching movies. May loved to talk, visit and meet new people; she never met a stranger and could talk to anyone. She always loved helping others in need and would do anything for anybody. May especially loved encouraging others, lifting them up and making them feel special.  When her health permitted her she attended the Assembly of God in Alton and Thayer. She enjoyed spreading the gospel to other people.

May is survived by one daughter, Deanna King- Smith and husband, Charles, one beloved granddaughter, Jordyn Smith, a twin-sister, Kay Badley, a brother Ronnie Sisco, and a sister, Betty Roy.

May is proceeded in death by her parents, Larwood Sisco and Marjorie Pierce, husband, Dennis Ira King, one daughter, Melissa Gail King, and three brothers; Jerry Sisco, Kenneth Sisco, and Van Sisco.

Visitation will be on October 18th, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri.

Funeral Services with be on October 19, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Preacher Chet Sisco officiating at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri.

Burial will be October 19, 2023 at the Thayer Cemetery with pallbearers : John King, Matt King, David King, Andy Sisco, Chad Sisco and Clayton Sisco/ Logan King.
