Opal Lucille Brixey

Opal Lucille Brixey, a resident of Willow Springs, passed away Saturday morning, March 7, 2020, while at Willow Care Nursing Home.  She was born September 7, 1925 to Richard C. and Deloris L. (Boone) Collins in Cabool, MO; she was 94 years old.

Opal grew up and attended school in Douglas County.  On April 16, 1946 she married Donald Eugene Brixey in Hardy, AR. She and Donald moved to Percival, IA and lived there for nine years where Donald was employed doing farm work, before moving back to Willow Springs.  Opal was content to be a homemaker and she enjoyed various hobbies.  She was an accomplished seamstress and she also loved to crochet.  She also enjoyed growing flowers, especially roses.  It was said she loved to do embroidery, not only hand embroidery but also using liquid embroidery paints.  She was known for the beautiful quilts she made.  She loved to spend her Tuesdays with the ladies at the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church making quilts for the needy.  She loved attending church at the Lighthouse Assembly of God and was a faithful member until her health started to fail.  She loved her sons very much and will be dearly missed by her family, her friends, and all who knew her.
