Perry Ray Posey, 86 years, 7 months, 13 days old, passed away on January 8, 2023 at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO.
Perry was born May 25, 1936 in Douglas County, MO to Everett Layne and Carrie (Stillings) Posey.
On November 7, 1954 Perry and Ellen Coetta Hart were united in marriage and they were blessed with four sons.
Perry was owner and operator of Posey Building Supply in Ava for several years. He also was a builder, author and composer of music. He was a Mason and a member of the Ava Masonic Lodge and a member of the Ava Assembly of God Church. Perry had also served with the Douglas County Gideon’s in Ava.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents; twin boys, Scotty Ray and Samuel Layne; his sister, Joyce Roberts and her husband, Bill Roberts and his brother-in-law, Tom McSwain.
He is survived by his sons, Roger Dean (Nancy) Posey and David Wayne (Julie) Posey; five grandchildren, Roger Michael Posey, Joshua David Posey, Daniel Wayne Posey, Katie Jo-Ellen (Brandt) Barnes, and Sarah Ann-Marie (Bryson)McGuire; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Judy McSwain of Ava and Frieda LaDouceur of Louisville, Kentucky; nieces, Angie Turley, Anderia “Andi” Kelly and Lisa Borgmann; other extended family and friends.
Funeral service and Masonic service for Perry will be Thursday, January 12th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. to service time. Officiating will be Gary Stigall. Family requests memorials to Gideon’s.
