Richard HUGH Ritter, age 67 of Ava, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021, at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, MO following a year long illness.
Hugh was born on the family farm, February 18, 1954 just outside of Ava to Edgar Alva Ritter and Edith L. (Kunze) Ritter, the sixth of seven children. He attended Ava schools and had a deep love for horses. On May 28, 1988, he was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Hutchison at the family home. He had lived in Arkansas for many years, coming home for every family reunion possible, he returned a final time a couple of years ago. He was a quiet man with a big laugh and he is missed dearly.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara in 2002, his father Alva in 2005, his mother Edith six months later in 2006, his sister Ella Marie King in 2018, his sister Stella Ann Upshaw in 2020 and his brother Edgar Monroe Ritter in 2021.
Left to mourn him are his remaining siblings, Linda S Prock and husband Kenneth of Wasola, Missouri, Charles Eugene “Gene” Ritter of Ava, Missouri, and James Clarence (J.C.) Ritter of Pennsylvania. He had many many nieces and nephews all of whom love and will miss him.
Cremation services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. At his request, cremation will take place and his remains to be scattered on the family farm where he was born and married and had lived on the last couple of years to farm along with his brother Gene.
