Roger Alan Swearengin

Roger Alan Swearengin gained his heavenly home on December 15, 2023.
Roger was born May 1, 1957, to Mr. and Mrs. Carl and Lotus (Stillings) Swearengin of Douglas County and attended Ava School.   He graduated Ava High School in 1975.

Roger met Irene Luanne Adams at Breeden church and later they were married on December 5, 1974, as high school sweethearts.  They just recently celebrated their 49th anniversary.  To this union were born two sons, Dustin Alan and Shawn Craig.

Roger was saved at a young age and served God as Deacon at Eastern Gate Baptist Church.  He worked at West Rock for forty-five years where he made lots of friends.

Roger loved to visit with his family and friends.  He always enjoyed a good golf game.  He played here as well as Florida, California, and Hawaii. He and his brother-in-law, Howard Adams, were always ready for a game.

Roger’s favorite vacation was driving his tractor around the farm, but he was also happy to go on a nice trip. Watching races on T.V. was something he enjoyed and even drove a stock car for a while.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lotus Swearengin; his sister Bonita and her husband Bud Hampton; brother-in-law, Dennis Schnieder.

Roger is survived by his wife Irene; sons Dustin and Tina, and Shawn and Miranda; eight grandchildren, Courtney, Rilee,Logan, Elektra, Braxton, Alexis, Baylor, and Capri; sisters, Donna and Jerry Loveland, and Carolyn Schnieder; many other family members and friends.

Funeral services for Roger will be Thursday, December 21 at 11:00 A.M. at the Clinkingbeard Chapel in Ava, Missouri. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 20 from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Stillings Cemetery.  Officiating will be Pastor Jon Mitchell and Pastor Jerry Loveland. Memorials may be made to Stillings Cemetery or Eastern Gate Baptist Church.
