Roxie Bernice Neal

Roxie Bernice (Miley) Neal was born on May 1, 1945, the daughter of Noble Freeland and June Charlotte (Atkins) Miley, near Bartlett, Shannon County, Missouri. She departed this life on December 7, 2021, at Mountain View Healthcare, Mountain View, Missouri, at the age of 76 years.

Roxie attended a one-room country school at Bartlett and later graduated from Winona High School.

She was united in marriage to Donald Jay (DJ) Neal on September 18, 1965, and to this union, two sons were born, David A. and Danny R. Neal.

Roxie was preceded in death by her parents, Noble and June Miley; step-father, William (Bill) Patterson; three brothers, Jim, Gene, and Freeland Miley and one brother-in-law, Phillip Neal.

She is survived by her husband of 56+ years, Donald “DJ” Neal of the home in Birch Tree, MO; two sons, David A. Neal and wife, Debbie of Mountain View, MO and Danny R. Neal and wife, Mary of Hartshorn, MO; two brothers, Roger Miley and wife, Marlene of Mountain View, MO, and Robert Miley and wife, Trudy of Birch Tree, MO; one sister, Patricia Neal and friend, John Anderson of Birch Tree, MO; one brother-in-law, Larry Neal and wife, Deana of Winona MO; four sisters-in-law, Wilda Miley of Mountain View, MO, Margie Price and husband, Richard of Van Buren, MO, Reva Dow and husband, Larry of Birch Tree, MO, and Becky Shoffner and husband, Carl of Van Buren, MO; five grandchildren, Jessica Buckner Pringle and husband, Scott of Mountain View, MO, Cody A. Buckner and wife, Mikki of Winona, MO, Casey D. Bales and husband, Bryce of Summersville, MO, Cory J. Neal and wife, Lexie of Columbia, MO, and Alex Neal of Hartshorn, MO; six great-grandchildren, Natalie, Jaxton, Kyler, Kooper, Skylar, and Aayla; her best friend forever, Elsie Brake of Birch Tree MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Roxie was a loving mother and grandmother whose passions were Jesus, her family, all children, and cooking. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she assisted DJ with his Sunday School class and served as a greeter, and was always ready to give a welcome smile and hug to everyone that came in the door.

She loved collecting Angles and homemade quilts, going on “road trips” yard sales, feeding and watching birds, raising flowers, going to their cabin at Udall, and catching white bass on Norfork Lake.

Roxie worked at several different jobs, but what she enjoyed most was working in a sawmill in Colorado, and being a teacher’s aide and cook for “her kids” at Summersville Elementary School.

Roxie is fondly remembered and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be on Friday, December 10, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Birch Tree, Missouri, with Pastor Jeff Brake and Cody Buckner officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 9, 2021, from 6-8:00 p.m., at Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Birch Tree, Missouri.
