Shannon Leigh Petro

Shannon Leigh Petro, 57 years, and 30 days old, passed away on July 23, 2024, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, with her family by her side.

Shannon was born June 24, 1967, in Los Angeles, California,  to Jerry Don and Marguerite Leslie (Salvage) Craig. She was raised in California, and she graduated from Apple Valley High School. She moved to the Ava community from Seligman, Arizona, 25 years ago where she met Bill Petro. Shannon and Harold “Bill” Petro, Jr. were united in marriage at the Goodhope Nazarene Church.

Shannon was retired from working at Copeland in Ava for 20 years. 

Her hobbies were photography, nature and animals. Shannon was a hard worker. She was outgoing and never met a stranger. She was always very kind and thoughtful. Shannon helped raise Bill’s two sons and grandson. Her family and friends meant the world to her. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on in her family and her friends. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Don Craig; her step father, Joe Hill; a sister, Kelli Anne Thompson; a son, Chris Petro; and a grandson, Malachi Petro.

Shannon is survived by “Bill” Petro; her mother, Marguerite Leslie (Salvage) Hill; a son, Michael Petro; grandson, Mason Petro and other extended relatives and many friends.

 Funeral services for Shannon will be Monday, July 29, 2024, at 10:00 A.M.  in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, Missouri with burial following in the Goodhope Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 9:30 A.M. to service time in the chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Cheryl Beason. Memorials may be made to Rescue One (www.rescueonespringfield.com) or Ava Animal Welfare League.
