Shelby Housley

Shelby Dean Housley, son of the late Argle Thomas and Florence Jane (Helsley) Housley, was born March 15, 1938, in Norwood, Missouri, and passed away February 21, 2023, at Cox Health in Springfield, Missouri. He was 84 years, 11 months, and 6 days of age.

Shelby graduated from Mountain Grove High School with the class of 1956. He married Virginia Lee Deeds on May 5, 1956, in Norwood, Missouri. Three children were born to this union. He and Virginia ran a beef and dairy farm together for 50 years. In his spare time, Shelby enjoyed hunting and fishing and he would go every time Virginia would let him off of the farm. He especially loved hunting and fishing with his grandkids but he cherished every minute he spent with them, no matter what they were doing. When he was younger, he liked showing and riding horses.

Shelby was saved and baptized as a young boy and was a member of Rock Chapel Church at the time of his passing, where he served as a deacon and taught in different capacities in the church for nearly 60 years.

Shelby was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Virginia, on March 31, 2017, a grandson, Andrew Housley, and one brother-in-law, Ronnie Deeds.

He is survived by two sons, Mike Housley and his wife, Lisa, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and David Housley and his wife, Tammi, of Norwood, Missouri, one daughter, Sherry Thompson of Springfield, Missouri, one brother, Monte Housley and his wife, Sandy, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends, church family, and neighbors who will dearly miss him.
