Funeral Services for Shirley Johnson, Age 82 of Seymour, Missouri will be held Thursday, September 17th, 2026 at The Mansfield First Assembly of God Church, beginning at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 16th, 2026 at The Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Seymour, Missouri from 5:00-7:00 PM. Burial will take place in The Seymour Masonic Cemetery, Seymour, Missouri.Memorial Contributions for Shirley may be made to Mansfield First Assembly of God Church, Kids Camp. Shirley Sue (Cantrell) Johnson, daughter of the late Woodrow and Anna Mae (Ashley) Cantrell, born July 23, 1944, in Marshfield, Missouri, departed this life on September 13, 2026, at Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour, Missouri, at the age of 82 years, 1 month, and 21 days.
Raised in the Seymour area, Shirley grew up learning the value of family and hard work as her parents owned and operated a local restaurant in Hartville. She married at a young age to Glen Johnson, and to this union six children were born. This began a journey that took her across the country, following work opportunities. Shirley lived in California for a few years and St. Louis for a brief time before her heart brought her back home to settle in Seymour.
Shirley found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved making silk flower arrangements and decorating her home. She especially loved to decorate her home for Christmas and had many wonderful meals with her family. An avid shopper, she looked forward to planning shopping trips for shoes, purses, and jewelry. Above all, Shirley was a woman of unwavering faith, a true prayer warrior and a steadfast believer in God. She knew God’s word and didn’t waver in her faith. If you were on her prayer list, you were blessed. She cherished her involvement in Women’s Ministries at Seymour Assembly and served her church family with humility and care, faithfully cleaning the church for several years.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Anna Mae Cantrell, her husband, Glen Johnson, two sons, Terry Johnson and Nicholas Johnson, and one sister, Helen Cornelison.
She is survived by three sons, Jim Johnson and wife, Cheryl, of Seymour, Bob Johnson and wife, Debbie, of Seymour, Stephen Johnson and wife, Nancy, of Billings, one daughter, Michelle Nichols and husband, Charlie, of Seymour, one brother, Max Cantrell, one sister, Janice Mace, one brother in law Jerry Cornelision, six grandchildren, Kody (Kayla), Tyler (Allison), Ashley (Dylan), Zach (Becca), and Logan (Kate), and 6 great-grandchildren, Kolton, Kason, Landon, Kalli, Jack, and Kamden, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother, a wonderful Mimi to her grandchildren, aunt, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
