Stephen Reed Plumb, son of Stephen Andrew Plumb, Jr. and Edna May (Hendricks) Plumb, was born January 31, 1945, in Davenport, Iowa, and departed this life April 3, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 79 years, 2 months, and 2 days.
He was united in marriage to Judyann Frazier, and she preceded him in death in 2019. He was also preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Maryily Hathcock, Eugene Bonnie, Don Hathcock, Lola Marberry, Joe Hathcock and Bonnie Hathcock, step-siblings, Vanton Hathcock, Louetta Hathcock, and Winston Hathcock, mother-in-law, Rose Frazier, and his beloved seeing-eye dog, Nina.
Steve is survived by 3 sisters, Cathy Russell and husband, Opie, of Marshfield, Missouri, Louise Rhine of Springfield, Missouri, and Rita Kelley and husband, Greg, of Davenport, Iowa; brother, Bruce Hathcock of Sikeston, Missouri; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Cindy Hathcock; other relatives and friends.
He worked for a carnival based out of Florida and worked all over the central and eastern United States for many years. Was a truck driver, had worked at a lime quarry in Batesville, Arkansas and a sawmill in Gainesville, Missouri. He wasn’t a very big man but was a hard worker and earned the name “Popeye” because of his strength and size of his arms.
Steve and Judyann moved to Mansfield several years ago where they lived until their health failed and moved to Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare in Ava for care.
