Steven Lynn Hicks was born on July 24, 1955, the son of Melvin and Roxie Hicks, in West Plains, Missouri. He attended high school in Mountain Home, Arkansas where he played football and baseball. A jack-of-all-trades, Steve worked numerous jobs in his life including cattle farming, long haul trucking, construction, propane delivery, and as a heavy equipment operator.
When not working, Steve loved to reload and shoot guns. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed many trips to Colorado elk and mule deer hunting. He was a handyman extraordinaire who could fix or work on just about anything that took a wrench. He rebuilt many motors in his life and was just about as handy as a pocket on a shirt.
He met the love of his life, Melba June (Turner) Hicks, and they were married on March 23, 1984. Steve and June built a wonderful life together and were proud parents to their son Trevor and daughter Jordan. June preceded Steve in death on February 28, 2019. Survivors, in addition to Jordan (Springfield), Trevor and daughter-in-law Kalee Hicks (Gainesville), are his mother Roxie Hicks, two brothers, Neal and Scott Hicks, and countless relatives, friends, and his beloved breakfast club.
Steve Hicks passed away at his home on June 24, 2022. He always had a funny story to share and he will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones, his memory will forever live with them. The world needs more dads like Steve Hicks.
