Steven “Speedy” E. Stapp

Steven “Speedy” Edward Stapp, 66 of Cabool, MO, finished his battle here on earth and received his eternal reward on December 19, 2022. Steve was born April 21, 1956, the fourth of five children to Clarence and Dorothy (Flood) Stapp in St. Louis, MO.   At a young age Steve accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and later became a member of the Cabool Christian Church.

During his early years, Steve was active in the Boy Scouts of America, working hard achieving the level of Eagle Scout. He was always on the go, looking for new adventures, spending much time riding and racing dirt bikes around town with friends earning is beloved nickname of “Speedy”.  Steve graduated from Cabool High School in 1974, he then went on to college at the then SMSU in Springfield, MO campus, while there he competed on the trap/skeet teams, receiving many awards for his shooting abilities.  After college Steve worked for his dad in multiple family businesses, he was also a heavy equipment operator.

Steve loved spending time with his family, friends, and extended family as he considered most, always with a quick wit, you were sure to get a chuckle from his antics.  Steve also had a passion for sports, NASCAR, St. Louis Cardinals, KC Chiefs, camping, and was always ready to discuss world issues.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ted and a brother-in-law, Paul Ames.  He is survived by the Love of his life, Gail Martin; their fur babies, “Willie” and “Peanut”; special family members, Shawn (Amber) Reeves of Battlefield, MO; sister-in-law, Cathy Stapp of Cabool; three sisters, Karin (Roger) Rader, Donna Ames and Patti (Steve) Mitchem all of Springfield; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Steve was a remarkable, loving person who touched the lives of so many, will be dearly missed by all.
