Terry was born in Newport, Arkansas, the son of Woodrow & Altie Smith.
On February 16, 1973, he married the love of his life, Lyda, at the family residence in Weiner, Arkansas. They had just celebrated their 51st Anniversary. Terry loved his wife and his family more than anything. Terry and Lyda have four children: Lona & Ben Miles of Weiner, Arkansas; Rebecca Moore of Mtn. View, Missouri, Christopher and Becky Smith of Weiner, Arkansas; & Terry David Smith.
Terry was a hard worker and adored his family including all his grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Mr. Smith was very proud of his country and served with great honor in the Army National Guard for 23 years of service. He also worked at the Weiner/Harrisburg School District where he was affectionately referred to as “Mr. Terry” and retired from there after many years of service to the public and kids. He was a tough man who didn’t let anything stop him from trying to do what he wanted to accomplish. Terry was part of the greatest generation of men who kept pushing forward through any struggles and continued to provide and take care of his family. He was stubborn and determined which was attributed to his good old-fashioned true American grit. He loved to help others and collected stamps and eagles. He will truly be missed by his family and friends, but he leaves behind a beautiful legacy with his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 9 from 11 am to 2 pm at the Rice Festival Building in Weiner, Arkansas. It will be a potluck dinner, so bring a dish of your choice.
We encourage family & friends to add pictures and videos of Terry to his obituary/living memorial on our website at www.alwaysfaithfulmemorialservices.com
