Thomas Edward Carmon, son of the late William Ellis and Tennie Lou (Powell) Carmon, was born April 17, 1934, in Union County, Kentucky, and tragically passed away November 19, 2022, in his home near Mountain Grove, Missouri, at the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 2 days.
Tom was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Miller on March 13, 1954. Five children were born to this union: Stanley, Sandy, Phyllis, Shari, and Joel.
Tom moved from Kentucky to Missouri in 1965 and settled on the family farm where they currently resided at the time of his passing. Prior to moving to Missouri, Tom spent 13 years working in the coal mines of Kentucky. Upon arrival to Missouri, he and the family spent 35 years in the dairy business.
Tom was an avid mule trader and enjoyed spending his time with his mules. Tom once said, “I was raised on a mule.” As a child he would ride mules to his favorite fishing spot and go hunting, “hunting everything down to swamp rabbits and turtles.” Tom was raised on a river bend in Kentucky and used his mules for farming and logging once settling in Missouri. He hauled mules and horses out of Wyoming and considered this to be “big business” in his time.
Tom is survived by his wife of the home, Patricia Carmon, son, Stanley Carmon and wife, Trudy, and their daughters, Shelly Carmon and Penny Carmon and wife, Danni, all of Hartville, Missouri, daughter, Sandy Thornhill and husband, Leland, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and their children Dawn Napier and husband, Brent, of Rogersville, Missouri, Patty Peña and husband, Manny, of Midland, Texas, and Timothy Thornhill and wife, Kalee Wheeler- Thornhill, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, daughter, Phyllis Meredith of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and her children Crystal Elliott of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Derek Meredith and wife, Samantha, of Norwood, Missouri, daughter, Shari Willis and her late husband, Dwayne, of Republic, Missouri, son, Joel Carmon and his wife, April, and their sons, Trenton and Cooper Carmon all of Norwood, Missouri, as well as ten great-grandchildren, NaKeisha Rust, Aaron Napier, Rio and Cruz Pena, Oakley and Ivy Thornhill, Starla Tallman, LeAnn Elliott, Johnnie Elliott, and Logan Meredith.
Tom will be remembered for his storytelling and his love for his mules and horses. He lived a simple life but found the good in each day and loved making people laugh with his stories. He will forever be in our hearts and greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
