Ursie Uraine Moore

Ursie Uraine (Kelley) Moore, age 99, daughter of John Claud and Ida Mae (Boyer) Kelley was born February 17, 2024 in Kansas City, Missouri. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 15, 2024 at her home in Houston, Missouri just two days shy of her 100th birthday.

She married Leslie Fulton Moore on April 24, 1944 and to this union three sons were born. They enjoyed 55 years together before his passing in 2000.

Ursie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sons Eddie and Delane Moore, three brothers Leo and wife Wilma Kelly, Norman and wife Pat Kelley, Russell and wife Lois Kelley, two sisters Edith and husband Roy Robertson and Opal and husband Wilson Hart. Brother-in-Laws, Laverene Horn and Lawrence Dommer, and two siblings, a brother and sister, that died in infancy.

She is survived by her son, Gary, daughter-in-laws, Rowena Moore and Hilda Moore. Two sisters, Fern Horn and Nadine Dommer, two brothers, Dennis Kelly and Herschel(Mildred) Kelly. Five grandchildren, Angie(Doug) Paben, Chris(Ann) Moore, Terry Moore, Michael Moore, and Joey(Julie) Moore. Ten great-grandchildren, Zack(Tabby) Base, Shelbi(Josh) Dixon, C.J.(Sarah) Moore, Christopher D. Moore, Terry(Tricia) Wolfe, Jennifer, Jessica, and Josi Spauldin, Jacob Moore, and Seth Rosen. 18 great-great Grandchildren Maddison, Noah, Reign, Colten, Brentley, Mason, Lane, Logan, Bristol, Harper, Whitley, Latham, Johnathon, Ellie, Kinslee, Averie, and Montgomery.

Ursie was raised mostly in the Bendavis and Huggins Community. She attended the Dunsmore Community School through the 8th grade before attending Houston High School, graduating in 1943.

After graduation Ursie taught at the Alice Community School for a short time before getting married. Leslie and Ursie lived for a short time in Nebraska, where Leslie was working at the time they were married. She was employed at the U.S. Naval Ammunition Depot while in Hastings, Nebraska. They then moved back to the Bendavis area prior to Eddie’s birth. They moved to Houston around 1957 where they lived on their farm until their passing.

Ursie was a homemaker for several years until her boys were all in school. She worked in Houston at the International Shoe Factory for several years and then at the Lee Factory for 21 years until she retired. Upon retirement she and Leslie enjoyed time together fishing at Montauk State Park. After Leslie’s death, Ursie devoted much of her time volunteering at Texas County Memorial Hospital and the Houston Senior Center.

Ursie was saved at Rock Springs Free Will Baptist Church near Bendavis on August 31, 1939 and baptized at Worsham Ford on Beaver Creek. She remained faithful to her Lord and Savior throughout her years. She last attended the First Christian Church in Houston for several years as long as her health allowed.

She enjoyed jig saw puzzles, word puzzles, and her favorite hobby, quilting. Ursie enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s basketball, baseball, and softball games. She loved her family and enjoyed time visiting with them and everyone enjoyed the big meals she prepared at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Ursie lived her life exhibiting the fruits of the spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23, Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-control. You could not have asked for a better mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and she will be missed not only by her family but all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Houston Senior Center or a cemetery of your choice.
