James Vernon Brooks, 91, of Hazelwood, MO, passed away at home on January 28, 2024. He was born on May 17, 1932, in Ripley County, Missouri, to James Edward and Cora (Carter) Brooks.
Vernon was married to Mary G. Brooks (Dale) for 64 years and is survived by his loving daughters, Gail Brooks and Brenda Bagin. He was a dear grandfather to Ryan (Jessica) and Kristin Bagin, and a proud great-grandfather to Anastasia Bagin.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings: Eldeen, Imogene, Kathleen, Dora, Newell, Phillip, Richard, Ernest, Glen, and Wendell. Vernon was the last of 11 siblings, marking the end of a generation but leaving behind a rich tapestry of family memories.
Vernon had a successful career as a machinist at McDonald Douglas. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was musically talented and enjoyed playing the harmonica, guitar, and steel guitar.
A memorial visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from noon to 2:00 p.m.
