Willa Dean Harp, 85-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Monday, January 1, 2024, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born April 21, 1938, in Pottsville, AR, to the late Willie Fulford and Flora Freemont Hoppis.
Willa possessed a smile to remember and made others feel loved. She was a special wife, mother, and grandmother, who was selfless and loved the Lord and her family. Willa exemplified the Proverbs 31 woman with her strength and dignity. She was a servant of God, kind and thoughtful, and was quick to take any need to the Lord in prayer. She loved nature, especially gardening and fishing. Willa also enjoyed reading, working puzzles, listening to music and watching Westerns. Talented with words, combined with her love of reading and listening to music, Willa was a prolific song and poetry writer.
On October 29, 1955, Willa married Hobert Harp in Sikeston, MO. He preceded her in death on October 21, 2009. She was also preceded in death by a son, Tony Harp; a daughter, Pamela Allen; sisters, Jean Hughes and Shirley Pickens; her brothers, Jimmy Fulford and Charles Fulford; a son-in-law, Harold Schultz; a grandchild, Jeff; and great-grandchildren, Mia, Liberty, and Jonathan.
Surviving are her sons, Carl (Kathy) Harp of Doniphan, Danny (Doris) Harp of Advance, MO, and Charles (Mary) Harp of Hickory, KY; her daughters, Athena (Art) Moore and Suzanne Schultz, both of Paducah, KY; and a sister, Sue (J. D.) Hughes of Russellville, AR; a son-in-law, Rick Allen of Doniphan; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 6, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with the funeral services to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Poynor Cemetery.
