William Eugene Altis, age 88, passed away on February 23, 2022, at the Houston House in Houston, Missouri. He was born to Isreal and Mary (Sigman) Altis on June 23, 1933, in Elk Creek, Missouri.
William is preceded in death by his parents, Isreal and Mary Altis; one daughter, Deborah Altis-Glenn; one brother, Bennie Altis and one sister, Aileen.
Survivors include two sons, William “Billy” Altis Jr. and wife Karen of Sedalia, MO and Bob Altis and wife Judy, Newton, NC; one sister, Carolyn Boykin, Mountain Grove, MO; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
From a young age, William knew he wanted to join the service. After graduation, William did just that. He proudly served his country for the next 20 years as a Master Sergeant/Supply Technician for the United States Air Force. In 1970, William retired. After retirement, he drove a school bus for the Cabool, MO school district for many years. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors. William loved fishing and was an avid golfer. William will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside services will be held Monday, February 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Ozark, Missouri with Pastor Terry Brown officiating, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Willow Springs.
