2 Grizzlies selected to all-region team

            WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Two members of the Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Basketball team earned all-region honors for NJCAA Region 16.

            They are sophomore guard Aiden Gair, Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and sophomore point guard Sterling “Trey” White III, Chesapeake, Virginia. Gair earned first team honors, while White was selected to the second team.

            Gair was the leading scorer for the Grizzlies this season. He averaged 15.4 points per game while shooting 40% from the 3-point line. He scored 20 points or more in nine contests and averaged 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per gaem.

            On Feb. 8, Gair scored a season high 34 points against Moberly Area Community College. He hit 10 of 13 shots from behind the 3-point arc.

            “Aiden is an outstanding shooter with great range,” Grizzly Basketball Head Coach Jared Phay said.

            White, the starting point guard for the Grizzlies the past two seasons, has been a key component on the team during his tenure. He was the second leading scorer this past season, averaging 11.8 points per game. He also led the team in rebounding, assists and steals with 147, 146 and 28, respectively.

            White hit a career high 22 points against Moberly on Jan. 21 and career high 12 assists against Three Rivers College on Feb. 22.

            “Trey is one of the best point guards I have ever coached, a true team leader,” Phay said.

            “We will definitely miss both of these young men next season,” the coach added.
